• Return to Oz by Scissor Sisters

Ive never fully gotten into the debut album by Scissor Sisters.

I like a couple of the songs occasionally.

But this one — Return to Oz — is a banger.

  • Ask Rufus by Rufus Featuring Chaka Khan

Ask Rufus by Rufus Featuring Chaka Khan

Ive never been a huge R&B fan, but what I have heard (mostly from top list recommendations) I’ve enjoyed.

And this album goes to the top of those. Wow.

I loved the whole album, but the final song, “Egyptian Song” just blew me away.

    Favourite Songs:

    • At Midnight (My Love Will Lift You Up)
    • Hollywood
    • Egyptian Song
  • Funeral by Arcade Fire

    Funeral by Arcade Fire

Starting back on the Rolling Stone top 500 albums listing. Why not. At number 500 there is Funeral by Arcade Fire.

This is already one of my favourite albums so is a nice start to the chart.

    Favourite Songs:

    • Neighborhood #1 (Tunnels)
    • Neighborhood #3 (Power Out)
  • It is scientifically impossible to play this song too loud.

I liked the darkness in the early 00s when their initial hits came out but then just forgot about them.

    I have since rediscovered them.

This song, Bald, and the album it featured on: One way ticket… are absolute fucking bangers.

    10/10.

  • Even though the WordPress ecosystem is about as stable as the dimensions in Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart right now, I do still self host my website on it.

I’ve been working on a lastfm scrobbles importer with time permitting over the past month.

Its currently in Alpha testing and is importing both the older scrobbles from the past ten years up to currently listening to.

It’ll be nice to be able to have the option to scrobble directly to my site in the future. Until now this will do me.

I will release it in Beta as soon as the admin area pages are tidied up.

  • All for You by Motorhead

The 8th song from Motorhead’s incredible “Rock ‘n’ Roll” album.

  • YouTube music 2024 recap

The 2024 YouTube music recap is here.

My top artist was Radiohead. I managed to be in the top 0.2% of listeners of Radiohead in both October and November.

My most played song was “Man in a box” by Alice in Chains apparently. I love the song but am surprised it was my most played one.

  • Heavy is the crown by Linkin Park

If The Emptiness Machine is a banger, which it is, then Heavy is the Crown is an ABSOLUTE FUCKING BANGER mate.

    Wow.

This is really a new era of Linkin Park and I am here for it.

The song felt completely familiar of early Linkin Park, but completely fresh.

And Emily’s scream at 1 minute 48 seconds. Christ on a bike.

    Wow.

Roll on the album release date. 🤘

    Love it.

  • Medicine man — Dr Dre featuring Eminem.

I was reminded of this banger of a song tonight from Dr Dre’s Compton Album.

One of my favourites of Eminem’s features with hard bars that aren’t for the faint-hearted.

  • Linkin Park – The Emptiness Machine

Really digging the new Linkin Park song “The Emptiness Machine”.

And the new members are a welcome addition.

Emily fits really well in my opinion and her vocals on this song make me excited for Linkin Park’s future.

Yes, Chester is missed greatly, and I can’t imagine the pressure of taking his spot, but she’s doing great.

On their Livestream, a couple of the old songs were a little jarring for me. But only because it’s a new person singing them.

On the whole she brought something both reminiscent and fresh to the songs I have grown up loving.

If people hate the idea of lineup changes then tell them to check out Fleetwood Mac – they’ll lose their heads.

  • Technical Difficulties by Racer X

One of my favourite Paul Gilbert songs from his time in Racer X.

    Absolutely incredible riffs throughout.

  • Anhedonia by Chelsea Wolfe-and Emma Ruth-Rundle

    Beautiful haunting song.

Gave me similar vibes to parts of the Inland Empire and Mulholland Drive soundtrack.

There is a very specific song that it’s reminding me of — I just can’t remember what song it is. As soon as I remember I’ll update it here.

I think it is reminding me of “Llorando” — the French version of Crying from Mulholland Drive.
