Preface: AI in certain situations I am all for. Detecting diseases in people faster; helping to improve peoples lives (genuinely – not through gimmicks); other academic places I’m not aware of.
Also, I sometimes end up asking the work gemini account the odd question if im really stumped on an issue with something im not normally working on.
What I hate, is “GenAI”. Not to mention the hive mind of businesses shoving ai things into products and/or websites.
When it comes to this website, none of it is created or edited using an ai tool.
I dont use LLMs and i dont “ask shatGPT”.
My website is imperfect, not very well designed (by modern trends) and is 100% written by a human.
The fact that I feel I need to explicitly state this is crazy in my opinion.
I’m neither excited at what “gen ai” can help me do nor worried at what “gen ai” could take from me.
It’s a gimmick — a solution looking for a problem. And one that is creating more problems as it grows and people lap it up.
Fuck “gen ai”.
I like the idea of “slash” pages. I have had a Now page for quite a while now, but it seems that there is a growing agreement of other slash-type pages.
