Not a huge Lady Gaga fan but this album has some bangers on it.
Probably one of the better albums of 2010s pop, based on my limited experience.
I Want To See The Bright Lights Tonight by Richard and Linda Thompson
I’ve been a fan of Richard and Linda Thompson for many years.
However, I have somehow never listened to this album — at least I can’t recall hearing it before.
“pour down like silver” and “hokey pokey” I have heard a few times though.
This album did not disappoint.
Really love their idiosyncratic sound.
Continuum by John Mayer
First time listening to John Mayer.
Nice album.
Quite relaxing whilst programming with songs that have nice messages.
Damaged by Black Flag
Loud, fast punk album.
Was okay. Not my complete cup of tea but I respect it for what it is.
Jar of Flies by Alice In Chains
I’d heard that this was one of Alice in Chains’ best releases. However, for some reason it took a while for me to get into it.
I’m glad I persisted, as this has become a favourite album / e.p. of mine I’ve heard in a long time.
It just gets better with each listen for me.
Return to Oz by Scissor Sisters
Ive never fully gotten into the debut album by Scissor Sisters.
I like a couple of the songs occasionally.
But this one — Return to Oz — is a banger.
The Stooges by The Stooges
The debut album from The Stooges.
Not a favourite of mine but it’s still worth a listen every now and again.
It’s one of those “formative” albums I think — being described as “proto-punk” on wikipedia.
The short run-time (about 34 minutes) works great for me as a short-sharp punch of energetic music.

Back to Mono (1958–1969) by Phil Spector
A large collection of songs produced by Phil Spector between 1958 and 1969.
A lot of them I recognised from their covers by other artists over the years, along with the many that have since been used / lifted for adverts.
I absolutely loved this whole collection. I enjoyed delving into the late 50s and 60s vibes.
The whole thing gave me feelings of “late 50s haunted hollywood” — mainly due to a scene in David Lynch’s Mulholland Drive.
There’s just something about the music of this era that just pulls you in.

Somewhere, on a desert road in U.S.A, is a dusty drinks bar about to erupt into a fight. This album playing on the jukebox.
I got vibes of my distant memories of the film Road House. No sure how accurate that is.
