Is WordPress still safe to use? With all the drama that’s been happening last couple years, and then this silly stuff of removing then reinstating Mullenweg, can I trust the stability of this thing?

@david It is, but you have to do the homework. (Security) updates, plug-in maintenance, etc.

@david Well, WordPress does have AI capabilities as part of core. Not sure if you would equate that to there being a safety issue.
Havent seen much from Mulllenweg lately so I cant say if anuthing has improved in that regard.

So, Im still on the fence on how to feel about WordPress . For my current websites, Im staying on WP 6.9.5 since I am not okay with AI. Additionally, Im trying out an earlier WordPress "fork" called ClassicPress.

@Catwoman69y2k @david Well, there was the recent revelation that the WordPress board try to put Mullenweg out to pasture, but he claims he’s back in again.
I’ve already moved away from Automattic’s products entirely. I was disappointed to learn they also owned the Day One journal app. I used to enjoy that.

@Catwoman69y2k @david They still have a large share of the internet, so it probably isn't too late, but I don't think Mullenweg is going to change or be removed.

@david I left WordPress instantly and for good when they announced they'd signed a deal to feed all of our writing into AI training, for which they'd be paid but we wouldn't. That was more than enough for me, and I deleted over eleven years of writing.
