How does this Orwellian bill affect a single person website that federates on fediverse?

For example, my website is WordPress self-hosted, only I post on it, but I federate with the Activitypub plugin.

Does that mean I have to watch what I say less I get in trouble if I get federated somewhere where I get in trouble, or do I stop federating all together?

The bill is written on the UK government website under “Science and innovation section”, but this is anything but innovation.

So many things I loved about this post!

I’ve used LastFM myself for years too, but never tried Pro. Will be giving it a try after reading this.

I got a bit obsessive over my own listening, and put a plugin together for myself to pull in my listening history, and ongoing listens, from LastFM. It saves them in my WP database so I can now have a URL per listen.

Dont judge me. haha.

A huge portion of the UK’s information is stored with US companies.

Health data; company data; people’s personal information; social interactions.

Both by choice and necessity.

This is mental.

What can we do to convince people how terrible an idea this is.

(this includes me at the moment)

this is actually scary. It’s mad how much the world’s business relies on these few us companies. Madness.

for everyday people it would be amazing if they made it super easy to self host things.

I use wordpress and would love to be able to reliably self host. I could get it working but doesnt feel like it would be taken well by hosting provider.
